Many readers learned Teen Patti at a family table with a pack of cards and a pot of matchsticks. The casino version keeps the three cards and removes the bluffing, which changes the game more than you would think. This guide is independent and not run by BDBAJEE. We could not confirm the game in its lobby on 7 November 2026, so check the live section directly.
Home game versus casino game
In a home game you bet against other players and bluff, so skill matters. In a casino table version, usually called 20-20 or one-day Teen Patti, you bet against the house or against a second hand, with no bluffing. The cards are dealt, the hands are compared and the round ends. If a live table is offered, its rules panel explains exactly which version is used, and that matters more than anything we say here.
Hand rankings
From the strongest to the weakest, the common ranking runs as follows. The rules panel confirms it for each table.
- Trail or set: three cards of the same rank.
- Pure sequence: three consecutive cards of the same suit.
- Sequence: three consecutive cards of mixed suits.
- Colour: three cards of the same suit that are not in sequence.
- Pair: two cards of the same rank.
- High card: none of the above.
Bets and side bets
Most live versions offer a main bet on one of two hands, plus optional side bets on pairs or better, or on specific hand types. Side bets pay more and land less often, which makes them more costly than the main bet over time. The main bet is the cheaper way to enjoy the game, but it still carries a house edge, usually from a rule such as a commission or a minimum hand requirement.
Playing it well
There is not much skill in a fixed-rules table game. The skill is in restraint: a small flat stake, no side bets unless they are entertainment money, and a stop point. The speed is also high, so count rounds. If you want a game with more decisions, blackjack is the better choice. Another South Asian favourite, Andar Bahar, is even simpler. The live casino hub shows the whole section.
